Jimi Hendrix - Greatest Guitarist of All Time

NEW YORK - The legendary musician Jimi Hendrix was named the greatest guitar player of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Hendrix was chosen an expert panel that contains the music and the world's top guitar players.

"Jimi Hendrix rocked our awareness of how should an exposed rock. He manipulated guitar, whammy bar, studio, and onstage," said Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello at Rolling Stone. Morello called the Purple Haze and The Star-Spangled Banner as the ultimate Hendrix song.

Hendrix followed Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Keith Richards, Jimmy Page, Pete Townshend and the list of 10 greatest version of the Rolling Stone guitarist. The list was crowded with icons of rock 'n' rolls for decades. Panel of judges who choose the list also included such seasoned musician Lenny Kravitz, Eddie Van Halen (who also entered the list at number 8), Brian May, and And Auerbach of The Black Keys. Besides them, the judging panel also includes the senior author and editor of Rolling Stone.
