Biography: Red Hot Chili Peppers (originally Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem) is a rock music group formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. The music group was founded by Michael "Flea" Balzary (bass), Anthony Kiedis (vocals), the late Hillel Slovak (guitar) and Jack Irons (drummer).

After Slovak died of an overdose in 1988, Irons resigned. The band is then alternated personnel, including Dave Navarro, Cliff Martinez, Arik Marshall, Jack Sherman, Jesse Tobias, Zander Schloss, D. H. Peligro, DeWayne "Blackbyrd" McKnight and Chuck Biscuits. Current members consist of Kiedis, Balzary, guitarist John Frusciante and drummer Chad Smith.
Musical styles Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP) is a fusion of traditional rock with elements of funk, punk rock, alternative rock, rap, heavy metal and psychedelic rock. RHCP has released nine studio albums, nine # 1 modern rock hits, and has sold nearly 50 million albums in the world (37 million sold for the third album Blood Sugar Sex Magik, CALIFORNACATION and BY THE WAY).

RHCP titled debut album THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS published on August 10, 1984 and recorded with Jack Sherman (guitar) and Cliff Martinez (drums) and produced by Andy Gill of Gang of Four. Proceeds from sale of this album is not encouraging.

Dated August 16, 1985 they issued a second album, George Clinton-produced Freaky STYLEY. No different from previous albums, this second album failed commercially.
